DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep. 19, 2013--
U.S. Bank is supporting relief efforts for victims of flooding in the
western states by contributing $50,000 to the American Red Cross,
accepting donations at U.S. Bank ATMs in the region and working with
impacted customers to accommodate late payments or other services as
needed.
“This disaster has left us with a recovery effort that will take years
to complete,” said Hassan Salem, president of U.S. Bank in Colorado. “We
are pleased to be a partner with and support Red Cross efforts to
provide valuable and necessary services during a time of crisis, and we
will do everything we can to help our customers and communities in this
region recover.”
U.S. Bank is a Red Cross Disaster Responder Program partner, with an
annual commitment of $250,000 that helps the Red Cross prepare for vital
disaster services nationwide. The agreement, announced earlier this
year, also establishes ATM donation capabilities that can be turned on
in the event of a disaster such as the recent flooding. U.S. Bank ATMs
will accept contributions for the floods through Oct. 21, 2013.
U.S. Bank is also reaching out to customers in the areas impacted by the
floods, and encourages affected customers who have not been contacted to
call 1-800-USBANKS if they need to make alternative arrangements given
their circumstances.
U.S. Bank will also match employee contributions to the Red Cross,
doubling the impact of their donation. In addition to financial
contributions to the Red Cross, U.S. Bank provides employees with
educational and volunteer opportunities through the Red Cross where they
can learn CPR, donate blood, and make sure they are prepared in the
event of a disaster.
